Seqalab interview!

I was interviewed by the fine students and faculty of the comic art program at SCAD, for their Seqalab podcast! Please give it a listen, but don't get mad at me if the sound of my voice makes you want to harm yourself or others. Talk to my lawyers about that.

As to stuff about the website, um, yeah. I'm so busy with commission projects right now that I haven't had time to do much else but keep myself fed and groomed and keep The Intrepid Girlbot chugging along. (Girlbot just hit it's two month mark, though. Ohhh, yeah.) I'll have to see about churning out a Welcome to Jinxville some time soon, at the very least.

After an unintentional hiatus -- due to life interruptions, travel, commissions, and keeping up with The Intrepid Girlbot -- there is finally a new Welcome to Jinxville. It's a tale from when I went to visit my family and stuff last month. Also, there's a bad word in it, for sensitive readers. But hey.

For the time being WtJ is now to be updated "sporadically," meaning whenever I can find and time and have a decent idea. I'm going to be really strapped for time all this month and probably well into next month. I'll see how things shake out.

To anyone who enjoys Welcome to Jinxville for some reason: sorry, but there's not going to be an update this week. This is for a few reasons, but mainly because I'm visiting my family this week, and there was a big work crunch to get things taken care of before I left. Had to prioritize. Also, my ideas were crap. I'm sure I'll have something good when I get back from my trip.

While I'm visiting people, I will be attending MidSouthCon. I'll have some work in the art show, and I'll be walking around and enjoying the event, as I do almost every year. If you happen to be attending, just look for the the girl with the short red hair, big butt, and name badge with "Diana" on it.

Here's something I've been working on since November, finally seeing the light of day. (Metaphorically.) I'm pretty excited and nervous about launching it, but I think it'll be a worthy experiment for me. Hopefully it'll hit home with some people, too. Girlbot updates with color-toned strips every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, starting today. It's not quite like any comic I've read, and I hope that will intrigue people. So check it out! Well, uh, bookmark it, I guess, since there's only one strip up so far. But that will change. Oohhh, it will change.

Site improvements!

I finally got around to making some additions and tweaks to the site. On the front page, hopefully you'll notice that you can now comment on the blog entries and that there's a new section. I removed the oekaki from the navigation because it wasn't being used. It's still there, though, if you care to go and doodle. I now have a section soliciting commissions in its place. Go look. Seriously. I could use the money.

There's also some new art in the illustration section and that Anders Loves Maria guest comic in the comics section.

Lastly, I now link to the RSS for the blog, in case you're into that sort of thing for keeping track of website updates. Dunno why I didn't do that before.

...I think next time I redesign Jinxville, it'll be way more streamlined and easier to update. This took me ALL DAY, people.

I've now drawn three -- count 'em: THREE -- installments of Welcome to Jinxville. This one is in a more humorous (and fictional) vein than the first two. Less whiny, more funny. I will try to keep it that way. I'm also going to try to post these a little more often. So far, I'm posting them about every two weeks. I'm going to try to make that closer to weekly, but I'm basically drawing and posting them A) when I have time and B) when I freakin' remember.

I don't expect that I'll start posting them on a regular day, but I'd like it to become more of a "thing."

As anyone who knows me in real-life (and possibly my Twitter followers) knows, I've been really busy lately with my first real book illustration gig. I've been having fun with it, but I've been stressing myself out about it. This is partially due to money; specifically, not having any. So I put myself on a tight deadline, which I think I'm just barely making. Having put myself on a deadline requiring me to spend the majority of my time every day working on illustration, I haven't had much time for my own work, like the little comics I like to do for fun or bigger projects I'm working on for the future or updating this site. Ah, if only I were independently wealthy, I would goof-off full time. Still waiting to make that first million.

So, yeah, anyway, that's been my month. That, and trying to get someone to pay my medical bills after getting hit by a car last month. (Funny story! I may tell it publicly some time.) Oh, and trying to make quality time with my dude. It's nice having a dude.

The Josh & Imp section is still coming, and I'm also going to be updating the Nightcrawler Sketchbooks. I know there have been a few people waiting on the latter. What can I say? I'm trying to be a professional. TRYING SO HARD IT HURTS. The fun things have suffered, but not permanently. I promise.

When I relaunched my site and started this new blog, I wanted to post little auto-bio type comic every now and then. This the first one I actually got around to drawing and posting...four days after I drew it. How nice to start off with a little self-indulgent fit of artistic frustration.
